Welcome to Wilmington Primary School.

As Headteacher, I am incredibly proud to lead a school where children are valued and inspired to achieve their very best. As a one-form-entry primary school, we are fortunate to have a close-knit community where every child is recognised as an individual and where strong relationships between pupils, staff, families and the wider community help every child to thrive. I firmly believe that it takes a village to raise a child and as such we seek to work closely with families for the betterment of our pupils.

We are also proud to be part of Endeavour MAT, which includes: Wilmington Grammer School for Boys, Wilmington Grammer School For Girls and Stone Lodge School. We work alongside these diverse, but like-minded schools to provide the very best opportunities for our children.
At the heart of everything we do are our school values of Resilience, Cooperation, Compassion and Aspiration. We also expect everyone to have honesty and respect for others. These values shape our culture, guide our decisions and help our pupils develop into confident and compassionate young people who are ready to make a positive contribution to society.

We believe that knowledge changes lives. Our curriculum is therefore carefully designed to be ambitious, knowledge-rich and inclusive, ensuring that every child develops a deep understanding of the world around them. We want our pupils to leave Wilmington equipped not only with strong academic foundations, but also with the cultural knowledge, vocabulary and understanding that will enable them to flourish in the future. We strive for all of our pupils to lead a life of genuine choice by laying strong foundations in primary school.

Our teaching is underpinned by evidence-informed practice. We use direct instruction to ensure new learning is presented clearly, practised carefully and remembered successfully. At the same time, we recognise that young children learn best when curiosity, exploration and independence are nurtured. In our Early Years provision, children engage in purposeful self-directed learning alongside expert teaching, creating a journey from exploration to scholarship.

Whilst we are ambitious academically, we never lose sight of the importance of character, wellbeing and belonging. We strive to be a force for good in our local community, fostering kindness, responsibility and service to others. Through a rich programme of wider opportunities, educational visits, sport, the arts and community involvement, we help children discover their talents and develop the confidence to pursue their aspirations.
