Term 4 Newsletter – April 2026

Term 4 Newsletter – April 2026

This term has been a delight, enhanced I’m sure by the longer days, warmer weather and far, far less rain!! Pupils have been able to spend even more learning time outside, as well as playing at break and lunch with the many outdoor games and resources provided. Lots of chances to stretch our legs and broaden our minds!

World Book Day was a case in point, a bright dry day to enjoy the pupils’ costumes with an all-school parade (which was very enthusiastically applauded by all pupils and staff!) as well as literary themed fun activities throughout the day – including an all-school opportunity for everyone to spend time reading their books in the sunshine. Our older pupils were amazing narrators, reading with the younger pupils and sharing their books.

Lord Voldemort(!) thoroughly enjoyed the extra opportunities to play football as you can see from the first photo!

As you know, I thoroughly enjoy every opportunity I have to work with our pupils in the classroom. It’s a real privilege to see first‑hand the curiosity and confidence that grow through great teaching. In the featured Year 4 French lesson, pupils practised their grammar and pronunciation as they got to grips with plurals. They approached the challenge with real enthusiasm, and it was wonderful to see them applying their knowledge so thoughtfully. Our French lessons do far more than build language skills, they open a window onto other cultures, broaden pupils’ understanding of the wider world and help them develop the confidence to communicate in new and exciting ways. It’s always a pleasure to be part of that journey.

Year 4 had the amazing opportunity to have a free training session with Chelsea youth coaches. All have been invited to one of their training centres with two of the children being scouted to attend a trial session.

Our KS1 lovingly drew pictures to their special person for Mothers Day .. I hope you enjoyed seeing their messages in the special Kent online supplement to mark Mother’s Day!

Year 3 have had a fantastic time creating their very own storybooks. Each pupil planned and wrote an original story, then brought it to life by designing imaginative moving mechanisms to illustrate key moments. The results were wonderfully creative, full of drama, character, and clever interactive features that made their stories truly engaging. It’s been a wonderful project that showcased both their writing skills and their inventive thinking.

Stay and Play sessions provide our Reception pupils with an opportunity to share their classrooms and activities with their parents and carers. The weather continued to be kind, so pupils eagerly led parents and carers on a tour of their classrooms including pit-stops to share experimental cooking in the outside kitchen, create towers and sculptures with our outside building resources .. a splash in the fishing pit, hopscotch, Lego and plenty more besides as the below photos show. These sessions, whilst incredibly fun, strengthen home-school bonds and demonstrate how our pupils learning is developed through play.

What a wonderfully uplifting Spring Concert it was. We are incredibly fortunate to have such an inspiring and talented music teacher in Mrs Greenbank. Alongside her practical classroom teaching, Mrs Greenbank, together with a team of visiting specialist tutors offers our pupils an exceptional music curriculum. This includes regular performance opportunities both in school and within the local community, as well as optional paid one‑to‑one and small‑group instrumental tuition. This year’s Spring Concert showcased the talents of sixty KS2 pupils, who performed a vibrant programme of solo and ensemble pieces. Highlights included Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins, the much‑loved jazz favourite EBGBs, and a first for us, a lively rendition of Mamma Mia! Each performance was met with rapturous applause. Our young musicians performed the concert twice, once for families and once for the whole school. We are immensely proud of their musicality, confidence, and sheer joy in making and sharing music. Thank you to every pupil involved for creating such a memorable celebration of the arts.

The photos below were taken during rehearsals.

We have enjoyed a host of Easter activities which included our Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bonnet competition. Both proved extremely popular with our pupils (and staff!) It seems, you are never too old to join in an Easter Egg Hunt!

The Dartford Bear Hunt.  We are delighted to announce we have been selected to take part in the Dartford Bear Hunt community art trail in support of ellenor hospice care.  Twenty bear sculptures will be decorated by local artists as well as forty-three bear cubs which local schools and youth groups will decorate – all will feature in the Bear Hunt Trail around Dartford.  Following the Bear Hunt, the artists’ bears will be auctioned to raise vital funds for ellenor hospice care.  We are thrilled to have been invited to join this exciting community project and our pupils and staff are already considering their potential designs and fund-raising initiatives for our very special bear cub.  We will keep you posted as our bear cub progresses.

Become a School Governor. Our school governing bodies represent different groups of people who have an interest in the school: staff, parents, carers and the community. Serving as a school governor is a highly rewarding experience, offering numerous personal and professional benefits. While we do not have any Parent Governor vacancies at the moment, we do have some Community Governor vacancies in other schools across the Trust. If you a looking for an opportunity to use your experience and skills to help make a difference within your local community and to help shape people’s futures, please contact governance@endeavour-mat.co.uk for further information on the role of a school governor.
